GG

The other day I accidentally pulled a drawer out too far and it fell. When I went to put it back in, I noticed something behind it...it was a glove. This glove belonged to my Grandma. I love and miss her terribly, so it was a sweet reminder for me of her. So I thought I would share a few things I love about my Grandma
  1. She was small, but mighty in heart. I had a foot on her, so if you know me, she was TINY! My grandpa in his day was about 6'2"....Grandma said she was 4'11", but I don't believe it ;) She had grandpa wrapped around her little finger. They were so cute to watch together.
  2. She was the Bosswoman. This actually came up the other day somewhat randomly when John asked this little short lady at his preschool if she was the Bosswoman...strange things kids remember. She might have been small, but she got her way. Like I said, whatever Grandma wanted, Grandpa and anyone else did for her.
  3. She made AMAZING cookies. She was the favorite grandma at the UT Jester dorms b/c every other month or so I would get a big box completely full of all kinds of homemade cookies. Those cookies got my friends and I through some tough times of Jester cafeteria food. And if you were around her, you were sure to find that she always kept a ziploc bag full of candy in her purse...score for the grandkids!!
  4. She was a shopper. She would load up the walking shoes and off we were to the mall...we could hit the whole thing in just about 1 1/2 hours, which is great for two small, shopping ladies!
  5. She was a camper. I have pictures from way back when I was little and we would go camping all the time. She would fish with us, help clean fish, etc. This after having 2 girls of her own AND being 1 of 3 girls...what a trooper!!
  6. She could beat you at cards with her hands tied behind her back. We never learned her secrets, but she ALWAYS won.
  7. She was good with traveling anywhere. We would just load up in the big old RV (we could even sweet talk her into letting us ride on the top bunk once we were out of town) and head somewhere...Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, Colorado, Carlsbad Caverns, Utah, you name it we went there.
  8. She loved her family more than anything. You would never know she was an orphan that didn't really have a family of her own growing up. She loved everyone and was so good at showing it. I remember when John was born and she and Grandpa came to visit, she never took her hands off that little baby. Even if she wasn't holding him, she would rub his feet or his head or be talking to him. That was just Grandma, or GG.
I miss her tons and I'm so thankful to have had her in my life for so long and have had all the wonderful experiences my brother and I had with her and Grandpa. They are truly missed.

I love that you came across her glove. What a sweet reminder of her. I keep one of my Dad's shoes on my dresser and I love the memories that such a odd piece of him bring when I am getting ready. What a great post to your Grandma's memory.
